Fucking Cell phone companies

The seemingly useless conservative government created a complaint for telecomunications commissioner. Anyhow I've sent my complaint, I recommend you do the same.
I am sure there won't be any results, but you never know until you try.

COMPLAIN and COMPLAIN LOUD
FUCK YOU ROGERS!! FUCK YOU UP YOUR STUPID ASSES!

It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)

i've got nothing to blog about, so i figured i'd talk about one of my favorite albums of all time.
Bob Dylan's 1965 masterpieice "bringing it all back home". The album cover has a weird ring effect, and a couple other great albums laying around (robert johnson, eric von schmidt). I think this was Dylan's first commercially sucecful album in the U.S. (just found a wikipedia article, that confirms this) This is the first album Dylan released that pissed off all of his "folk music purist" fans. The album is split into two sides, the first electric with a full band backing, and the second just acoustic guitar, vocals and harmonica. This album is valuable lesson to any musician, as it clearly outlines what adds to a song, and what can just fuck it up.

It contains this lyrical masterpiece "it's alright, ma (i'm only bleeding)".
I've been trying to memorise the lyrics for a couple years so far so I could play it. Just can't do it, don't think I will ever be able to. Here it is:

Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child's balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying.

Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn
Suicide remarks are torn
From the fool's gold mouthpiece
The hollow horn plays wasted words
Proves to warn
That he not busy being born
Is busy dying.

Temptation's page flies out the door
You follow, find yourself at war
Watch waterfalls of pity roar
You feel to moan but unlike before
You discover
That you'd just be
One more person crying.

So don't fear if you hear
A foreign sound to your ear
It's alright, Ma, I'm only sighing.
As some warn victory, some downfall
Private reasons great or small
Can be seen in the eyes of those that call
To make all that should be killed to crawl
While others say don't hate nothing at all
Except hatred.

Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Made everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It's easy to see without looking too far
That not much
Is really sacred.

While preachers preach of evil fates
Teachers teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the president of the United States
Sometimes must have
To stand naked.
An' though the rules of the road have been lodged
It's only people's games that you got to dodge
And it's alright, Ma, I can make it.
Advertising signs that con you
Into thinking you're the one
That can do what's never been done
That can win what's never been won
Meantime life outside goes on
All around you.

You lose yourself, you reappear
You suddenly find you got nothing to fear
Alone you stand with nobody near
When a trembling distant voice, unclear
Startles your sleeping ears to hear
That somebody thinks
They really found you.

A question in your nerves is lit
Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy
Insure you not to quit
To keep it in your mind and not fergit
That it is not he or she or them or it
That you belong to.
Although the masters make the rules
For the wise men and the fools
I got nothing, Ma, to live up to.
For them that must obey authority
That they do not respect in any degree
Who despise their jobs, their destinies
Speak jealously of them that are free
Cultivate their flowers to be
Nothing more than something
They invest in.

While some on principles baptized
To strict party platform ties
Social clubs in drag disguise
Outsiders they can freely criticize
Tell nothing except who to idolize
And then say God bless him.

While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society's pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But rather get you down in the hole
That he's in.
But I mean no harm nor put fault
On anyone that lives in a vault
But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him.
Old lady judges watch people in pairs
Limited in sex, they dare
To push fake morals, insult and stare
While money doesn't talk, it swears
Obscenity, who really cares Propaganda, all is phony.

While them that defend what they cannot see
With a killer's pride, security
It blows the minds most bitterly
For them that think death's honesty
Won't fall upon them naturally
Life sometimes
Must get lonely.

My eyes collide head-on with stuffed graveyards
False gods, I scuff
At pettiness which plays so rough
Walk upside-down inside handcuffs
Kick my legs to crash it off
Say okay, I have had enough
What else can you show me?
And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They'd probably put my head in a guillotine
But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only.

agghhhh

im in agony from drinking too much this weekend. I recently spent sometime with some of my conservative friends, and couldn't help but wonder what it must be like to feel like them.

They must feel that I am a moron, and so are most of the people around them every day. Because if you don't think that global warming is real, then you must think the people that do believe in it are gullible, and/or not very bright. I don't think any of my conservative friends are stupid for not thinking that global warming is a real issue that we will all be forced to deal with in the near future, I just think they are too busy making lots of money to read any books.
Anyhow if you have ever tried to maintain a pools PH level, and you do a poor job, and it all goes to shit. Well imagine that on a much larger scale.

i want to go back to bed.

City of Woes

I came across this very good article during my daily internet surfing, but it was the section this section from Mr. King that caught my attention.

"I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate,” King wrote from another era as he sat inside a Birmingham jail. “I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Councilor or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: ‘I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action’; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a ‘more convenient season.’ Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.”

No matter how much I think i've read about martin luther, I find myself continually stumbling upon brilliant pieces of his writing time and time again. While this is in reference to race issues in America I think it says a lot about the state of apathy everyone seems to have for any sort of positive change within Canadian society these days. It seems no matter what the issue is, all people have for answers are half baked partial remedies at best.

For instance the increasing cost of University in Canada.
I meet people whom are clearly very smart, and well read, but then they have almost opposing attitudes and ideas. While they might be in favour of free education for all on a grade school level, and even for free University, they then reverse all of this by seeing an increase in the cost of University Tuitions as fair and justified. As a result they are either in favour of a tuition freeze, or slight increase, both of which do nothing to solve the problem, that being, that the cost of University is already too expensive and that having the most educated portion of your work force being burdened by debt is crippling to the economy. There seems to be strange disconnection between the reality of a social problem and how we feel and think about their solutions. To even suggest free University in Canada seems to blow most peoples minds, despite this being available in almost every Western Democracy.

It does not appear that people's beliefs follow any sort of moral, ethical, political principles, or a continuous stream of logic that would lead a person to any sort of scientific based conclusion, but rather a collection of feelings and attitudes that people seem to have adopted from someone or something else. Yet we all pretend the debate is based upon attitudes of left or right, expert versus amateur. anyhow i don't know where im going with this, I just wanted to post the King bit and then got carried away.

Skeptic Lovers

Every year around christmas time I try and record some music to give to my mother as a gift.
Anyhow this year I tried to make it a bit better then usual. I've gone the extra step and created some album artwork, and recorded a few original songs in addition to the traditional xmas fair. It is not yet complete but you can sample some of the poorly crafted songs on the link above.

comments, suggestions, as always are appreciated.

Jesus Christ!

Recently I seem to have stirred up a bit of a shit storm amongst my friends because of the recent modification of my religious views on facebook. Right now it says "I love Jesus and all the fucking idiots that think he actually existed. Merry Christmas to all!". I thought this was a polite way of saying that Jesus is not a real historical figure, but I love him, and his followers.

I thought this was a very Christ like thing to say. Be strong in your convictions but love those who are against you. For years I have been fascinated by organized religon, and in particular jesus christ and christianity. I assume it has something to do with going to pre-school in a church, and then walking by several churches several times a day, every day of my life. That and generally living in a Christianity based society. Anyhow between Smashing Pumpkin lyrics, the 3rd Indiana Jones movie, and my obsession with King Arthur as a child, I thought it would be a good idea to be well versed in the scripture.

Thanks to the uneccesairly large religous section at my public library, and to the kind people at the Christian book club (great source of free jesus books) one's ability to research the subject is quite easy.

As a young skeptic, I quickly came to the realization that the story of Jesus appeared to have a lot in common with other mythological lore. Anyone who has read the Epic of Gilgamesh, or read about Greek Mythology, Norse Mythology, Egyptian Mythology, Buddhism, etc..... will quickly realise that their are obvious parallels in all of these stories. (many are listed in the link of this post)

My grade 11 World Religions teacher (Mr Skiliter, the most well read, sweet jewish man I have ever known) also helped clarify the meaning and use of numbers within religious text and what they come to represent. This knowledge is very important if you want to make sense of the metaphors or allegory within Dante's trilogy. (very good read, I would love to turn those into an epic mini-series with great special effects and music)

Anyhow I always was of the belief that Christ had actually existed, but that he most likely was just some guy with a following who was never capable of producing miracles

This is until recently when I began to understand all of these mythological story similarities in the context of stars.

If you have ever studied any of the ancient pyramids in Egypt, or of the Aztecs, or any of the other sun worshiping groups, you will know that man has been obsessed with our alignment with the stars and the universe. Fuck people still do it today with their daily horoscopes. ("Oh My God, thank Jesus you arent a scorpio, other wise we would not get along!")

Anyhow those Horoscopes are much more enlightening then one might give them credit for. Rrather then do a poor job of trying to re-explain all of this, and rather then have you research these things yourself, there is a movie that does a fairly good job of telling this story. Anyhow you can watch it here (skip ahead to 10 minutes in, because the intro is pretty fucking stupid, and then end it around 33 minutes. 33 minutes!! Maybe Jesus is trying to tell me something! HE DOES EXIST! IGNORE ALL OF THIS.YAAA!) If you think that any of the claims made by this film (only in reference to the time period stated above as the rest of the film i can not defend in any way, shape, or form.) is inaccurate, then please post comments. Discussion is greatly appreciated.

On that note, I will change my facebook religious views to something less offensive.

Canadian government following the Bush example

Despite the recent U.S. Intelligence report that says Iran doesn't have nor is interested in developing nuclear weapons, the drumbeat to war marches on.

The current Canadian Conservative government is all too eager to help tar and feather the Iranian administration, as it has been rejecting Tehran's suggested ambassadors for a long time now.
This has been going on for quite sometime, until the point in which we clearly have insulted the Iranian administration and they expelled our ambassador.
Our government hasn't given us any details as to why we have been rejecting any of Iran's suggested ambassords, but rather has given us the detailed answer of "Iran has not measured up to our standards for an international relationship for some time"

Canada, America, and Britain continue to try and isolate Iran from the world. We constantly ridicule their politicians, and treat them with less respect then a tele-marketer.

Another war is on its way, and like the one we are currently in, it will be never ending, but I guess thats the idea. War's aren't ment to be won anymore, just to perpetuate for as long as the political cost will let them.

this country is starting to really piss me off.
