The Democratic Convention - Maybe they aren't hopeless after all

Has anyone happened to take in any of the democratic convention? Ya most of it is boring ass shit, but I must say I was throughly impressed by the words of the democrat state senator from Illinois, Mr, Barack Obama. In a better world he would be running for President or vice President, not John Kerry, or John Edwards.

I had never heard of the man untill yesterday, but apparently he has been against the war in Iraq since the begining. Watch his speech from last night here.

off to go see Prince. bommbbb

Dis-crediting the rights attempts to dis-credit the left. A.k.a. Who is really full of shit?

I was reading an article on the BBC website regarding Michael Moore's film 'Fahrenheit 911", they have two people's opinions on the film, one praising the film, and the other dis-crediting it. You can read it here.

This part rubbed me the wrong way: "Take, for example, the horribly misleading scene with Iraqi children playing in the bright sunshine with kites insinuating that Iraq was a paradise. This was over-the-top, but then Moore adds the voice over about how Iraq had never tried to kill US citizens or attacked the US any way. Obviously, Moore must have forgotten the first Gulf War, regularly firing on coalition aircraft."
In Brant Hahn's attempt to dis-credit Moore's comment regarding the fact that Iraq has never attacked American CITIZENS or attacked the US in anyway, he places some lame ass comment about how Iraq had attacked coalition forces during the first Gulf War. What Hahhn (knowingly or unknowingly) is changes Moore's argument. What Moore is referring to is that Iraq has never attacked any U.S citizens, as in regular people like you and I, and that Iraq has never attacked America itself, this being the physical geographic area that most of the world knows as the U.S..A. You may have an argument that Iraq has attacked foreign American military bases, or has attacked invading American troops, but this is not Moore's point, but Hahhn will try to make you think that in order to dis-credit Moore. I guess Moore should have been slightly more specific with the second part 'attacked the U.S. in anyway'. This can be interpreted in different ways, especially when you are ignoring the blatantly implied one, and being maliciously attacked in every way imaginable. If you would like to actually support your ideas and beliefs with facts please read the following: Please go through this.
It will shed light on America's military involvement in the middle east, and will make you question the validity of anything the American government says.

Here is a piece taken from Matthew Good's blog, please read it:

Imagine for a moment that 5 to 10% of what has befallen the people of the Middle East had befallen North Americans between 1900 and 2000. Imagine for a moment that various Middle Eastern nations were world powers and were in the position to carve up Canada, the US, and Mexico based on industrial needs and opportunities. Now, who in their right mind wouldn’t have a negative view of those powers?

Our definition of freedom is based on an insular understanding of ourselves, not one of the world as a whole. We claim ourselves champions of liberty yet exploit others for gain and yet are surprised when they dislike us.

Benjamin Franklin once wrote – “They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.”

Eerily, Franklin’s words are just as applicable today as they were then. To define the “war on terror” as a broad engagement against those that “despise western values” is to allow it to include anyone that those who are in charge of fighting it see fit (Iraq is a prime example). Doing so has led to the diminishment of civil liberties not only in the United States but also in many other nations because of the tone set by the United States.

Violence begets violence, mistrust begets mistrust, ignorance begets ignorance. The most important question of our times is - who will be courageous enough to break the cycle?

Good things start to happen, with good government

There's a great idea, rather then sell people more guns in order to kill each other, why not pay people to give there guns away, so that they don't kill people? Beautiful, simple, fucking concept. If your country has a high # of gun related murders, one might be led to the conclusion that guns might be killing people, and that maybe... just maybe, a good way of reducing the murder rate, would be by reducing the # of guns in your country?
Brasil has been able to make steps in the right direction in recent years because they elected a president that genuinely would like to improve the lives of everyone in Brasil (not just a handful of upper class 'business men'). He has also taken a very Canadian approach to his policy making. He walks the IMF tight rope, while he still tries to implement social programs that would benefit the majority of people in his nation (the poor). While originally the leader of the left-wing Worker's Party, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva gave the party a dead centre image, in order to obtain, and stay in power. So congrtulations to Brasil for not wanting the people of there country to not want kill each other anymore.
As for a group of human beings that can't seem to get enough out of watching things blow up, and enjoy frequent showers of human body parts, the U.S. Army has gone back to bombing the people of Falluja, story here.
Bringing the body count in Iraq to somewhere between: 11, 000 to 13,000 people dead. On thatr note, an appropriate quote from Bush Sr.

"Extending the war into Iraq would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq. The coalition would instantly have collapsed, the Arabs deserting in anger and other allies pulling out as well. Exceeding the U.N.'s mandate would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the U.S. could still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land."

fuck you mr.martin & concerts galore!

Well I opened up the newspaper this morning (Globe & Mail, Section A4) to read an article titled Missile Defence a Done Deal. The article goes on to discuss how the Liberal's have been trying to keep thins quiet around this. Apparently they figured it would be in the best interest of Canada to sign on to this deal, because the Americans will do it anyhow. Because this missile defence system only obtains to the first part of the IBM defence system, which only places missiles on land, Martin could avoid discussing STAR WARS. Though this does ultimatly lead to the weaponisation of space, it's not technically putting weapons in space right this second.

Though the BLOC and the NDP will be strongly against this, it seems that the deal is all ready done. Unless a major out cry from the public, Canada and the U.S. will begin its isolation from the rest of the world, and as a result will make us no different from the United States in the eyes of terrorists.

Support of this "security system" (which has yet to proove that it actually works) is telling the rest of the world that Canadians are no different from Americans, and that we share the same foriegn policy. This is a dangerous flag to be waving. As the U.S.'s #1 trading partner, and quite possibly its closest Ally, we should be expressing our discontent towards there current attitudes & policies. If you are one of the few Canadians that strongly believe the war in Iraq is/was just, and that there is nothing wrong with a country that spends more then half of its budget on the military, would like more tax breaks for the rich, then please do the rest of us, and yourself a favour. MOVE TO FUCKING AMERICA.

In other news, Kerry picks Edwards as his running mate. He's isn't a total loss, but he does support the death penalty. (he's from the south what the fuck do you expect) Kerry and a fucking bag of chips could win this election... you know, unless it is fixed again. Which wouldn't shock me. I'd vote for NADER, but we all know how much Americans love there two party system.

Ok LOLLAPALOOZA got cancelled, and i'm fucking thrilled. Tomorrow and 10am tickets go on sale for WILCO, and Modest Mouse. So i'm comming back to Toronto for the first week of August: Wilco, Modest Mouse, Curiosa (The Cure, Muse, Interpol, etc...) and then the Canadian Rocks on Toronto Island (The Constantines, Sam Roberts, Sloan, etc...) Should be a fun week!! oh fuck ya. If you are in University, I highly reccomend you take an American Foriegn Policy class, they are entertaining, informative, and frightning.

crazy conservatives

Is it just me, or why is it that anytime any sort of left wing thoughts are shown in main stream media, the right goes fucking ape shit? Doesn't it seem odd that they get so defencsive and start lashing out? It reminds me of the behaviour of men that have been acused of cheating by there girlfriends or wives. Rather then calmly discussing why the person might feel that way, they fucking flip out and start calling names and saying things like "i can't believe you would say that!! That's such a lie!! Where do you get the nerve". When in all actuality, the person has been fucking around for months, and is scared shitless they are about to get caught.

You figure most people have a pretty good understanding of human behaviour, and would be able to see through this thin veil of lies. Then again some people just choose to ignore it, because it's easier then facing reality.

I'm not one for getting fucked around by my significant other, or anyone for that matter. It smells like shit, and I'm pretty sure where it's comming from... the right.

im back, September 11th "I don't care, does this look good on me?"

Hello friends and random website visitors. I've got this blog kicking until i can get my website back up. Though it isn't as through or flashy looking, it does the job. I was recently talking to a friend of mind about Michael moore's latest film "fahrenheight 9/11". This person was going on about how they didn't like the film, and that they were sick of Michael Moore. I have no problem with people not being a fan of the works of Micheal Moore, but what I can not tolerate is people disregading the deaths that have occured during, and after September 11th. I personally would like to think if there were a large quantity of unanswered questions about my death, that people would take some time to inquire about them. Though I do not know personally anyone that was killed by such events, there were at the very least fellow country men that died because of such events, and that reason alone has stired an intense interest in the matter. maybe this will hit closer to home for you: http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1085523609228&call_pageid=970599119419

This blog will do in the mean time

This lack of having a website has been pissing me off, so i'm going to blog until i can get mine back up.
So the story with the site being down is "supposed" too much disk space usage. Which is crap, because there is no way I have over 100mb of crap on it! On my disk drive its only 23mb, so even if you add pagging files and crap theres no way it could exceede that. (and no its not using too much bandwidth)... Shitty fucking webservers!!
Anyways, had a big party.... it was crazy, but not quite crazy enough for my liking. I'll get pictures soon. Oakville sucks, I need to go back to Montreal.
